Resolving issues with consular restrictions and alimony

DSL-Service specialists assisted a client – a Russian citizen living abroad – in solving problems with consular restrictions and establishing payment of alimony in Russia

The client of DSL-Service LLC, a Russian citizen permanently residing abroad, applied with a question about the possibility to fulfil his obligations to provide maintenance for his minor children living in Russia on a permanent basis. Due to the disruption of settlements between Russian and foreign banks, he was unable to pay maintenance for his minor children, and due to the complexity of his relationship with his former wife, he was unable to resolve this issue amicably. This led to the former spouse filing a writ of execution for enforcement of alimony payments, and the bailiff within the scope of the initiated enforcement proceedings applied restrictive measures in the form of a ban on traveling abroad, which automatically means the impossibility of obtaining a whole range of services at Russian consulates overseas.

DSL-Service LLC specialists successfully carried out negotiations with the former spouse to settle the debt, and also developed a mechanism for repayment of the existing debt and systematic transfer of funds for the maintenance of minor children later on. As a result, we achieved an early termination of enforcement proceedings and removal of all restrictions on the provision of consular services for our client, and for his minor children – the ability to systematically receive funds for their maintenance, which, among other factors, helped to resolve the conflict between the former spouses.
